About Edmund Parker Tucson
Edmund Parker is a Tucson-based professional and consultant for the non-profit industry. Mr. Parker earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the State University of New York in Geneseo, and went on to receive a Master of Science in Education from Niagara University with an emphasis in guidance counseling. After his graduation, Edmund Parker began working for the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona in 1976.
By 1978, Parker rose to become the organization’s President and Chief Executive Officer. In that position, which he filled for over thirty years, Parker collaborated with a diverse set of people and organizations in order to help fulfill the United Way’s vision and missions. He was responsible for overseeing operations, creating and implementing necessary policies, developing revenue sources, training personnel, and stabilizing finances. Parker was also the organization’s chief spokesperson. Over the course of his career with the group, Mr. Parker helped raise annual revenues from $2 Million to $20 Million.
In addition to his leadership experience, Edmund Parker has worked widely as a consultant. This has included chairing the committee to merge University Medical Center (UMC) and University Physicians Healthcare (UPH) into the University of Arizona Health Network. In addition to his consultant work, he also served on its Board of Directors for UPH and was the group’s foundation president. Mr. Parker also acted as a consultant for Goodwill Industries International, where he led a capital feasibility survey supporting a building expansion project.
Most recently, Parker served as the Executive Director of Professional Employment Exploration and Resource Services (PEERS). In this position, he was responsible for working with volunteers in creating a new nonprofit serving those seeking jobs with state employers.
Edmund Parker prides himself on his ability to inspire others, including volunteers, to take action in Arizona. In addition to being a member of the United Way, he was also a member of its Tocqueville Society, representing his financial commitment to the organization. He also continues to volunteer with PEERS.
